Getting Ready for Christmas Blossoms

I distinguish between the two reds with garden names of My Scarlet and Trudy’s Red. Peach, yellow and pink are all in bud, possibly to bloom by Christmas.

Twenty five Pink Pearl hyacinth bulbs are starting to show a bit of green tips. I added a Graptopetalum cutting or two to every pot for a bit of lagniappe. Once everything is growing nicely, I’ll add a bit sheet moss and maybe a twine bow.

The green pot in the center hold 4 bulbs — I ran out of 4″ pots — to which I’ll add some fine green moss I saw growing in front of the tractor shed and put it in a cache pot. All these are Pink Pearl.

White Pearl Hyacinths are still chilling. Potting starts today, several to a container. White Kalanchoe has early buds. The Kalanchoes are too tall to combine with Hyacinths. Wonder if I could stuff some in with Appleblossom Amaryllis when those bulbs arrive?

  1. I see your sago palm in the last photo. I’d like to have some of that burro’s tail or whatever it’s called. I just haven’t found any at the plant nurseries. Also thought your white Schlumbergera was spectacular. Looks like it’s ready to fly.

  2. Christmas Flowers…how lovely!
